Small South Melbourne-based NBN provider, Tangerine Telecom, has opened 2020 with a new offering for telecommunications consumers, delivering what it claims is Australia’s most competitively priced 25/5 unlimited NBN plan costing $49.90 per month - but just for the first six months of the plan.

For cost per Mbit/sec fibre beats copper hands down

Point Topic has released its latest quarterly benchmark of global broadband tariffs, showing that the cost of fibre services per megabit of bandwidth in one fifth that of services over copper and predicting that European nations will need to accelerate fibre rollouts.

A global study of the broadband market has found that value-added services, such as security, Voice Over IP (VoIP) and IPTV, added almost 37 percent to the basic broadband subscription during 2010, and generated $60 billion in revenue for vendors.
